E-busway Nantes wins the UITP Award

The international UITP award was presented to Nantes Métropole and SEMITAN for their e-bus system with 22 HESS lighTram® 25 TOSA.

In the winning category "operational and technological excellence", the award was given to a project that shows excellence in public transport and/or in the technologies used to ensure safe and efficient transport.

This bus route is 100% electric. It uses vehicles of the type HESS lighTram® 25 TOSA. The HESS e-bus system in Nantes consists of 22 bi-articulated buses and flash charging stations along the route. The route connects the historic centre of Nantes with the municipalities south of the Loire and has a capacity of over 40,000 passengers per day.

For the jury, this was a strong project for service quality, operational performance and environmental transition.

The UITP is the international association for public transport and as a global interest group, represents about 2,500 regional and urban transport companies and producers in 80 countries. The transport companies among UITP members employ about 850,000 people and move 313,000 vehicles.
