Passenger Accessibility case study Brisbane Metro

As part of the Brisbane Metro project, Brisbane City Council led a unique co-design process with the accessibility sector to evolve the design of HESS’ lighTram® 25 vehicles.

Advocates and users with lived experience contributed to key design phases to inform the final metro design, which not only exceeds accessibility acts and standards but better reflects the diverse needs and feedback of the community.

With 10 priority seats, three dedicated mobility aid bays, low-floor design, an automated on-request ramp and next stop announcements, HESS’ lighTram® 25 delivers an elevated public transport experience for people of all abilities.
