On 5 April 2025, the Communauté Urbaine du Grand Nancy, together with Keolis Grand Nancy, ceremoniously put the modernised ‘Tempo 1’ line into operation - a new all-electric trolleybus line with 15 lighTram® 25 DC vehicles from HESS.
Around 62% of the 9.78-kilometre route between Vandœuvre-Brabois and Essey-Mouzimpré is operated using overhead contact lines, while the remaining sections are battery-powered. This is made possible by the tried-and-tested dynamic charging system with targeted connection and disconnection points. Charging at the depot is carried out using a plug.
The new battery trolleybuses were inaugurated to a great reception and have been met with a consistently positive response in Nancy - from passengers as well as the authorities and media. With this solution, Nancy is making a significant contribution to reducing local emissions and improving the quality of urban life.
We would like to thank everyone involved in the project for their great commitment and look forward to working with our partners to further advance emission-free mobility in Europe.
