HESS is delighted to announce that it has received a contract from BERNMOBIL to supply 13 double-articulated trolley buses. From summer 2026, they will be used on line 10 from Bern – Köniz/Schliern and offer around 30 percent more capacity than traditional articulated trolley buses.
The lighTram® 25 DC offers plenty of space with 48 seats, large standing room areas and optimised passenger flow. The spacious multifunctional zone at the second entrance provides comfortable space for wheelchair users. The air conditioning system with heat pump and environmentally friendly CO2 as a refrigerant help to make the vehicles sustainable. Dynamic charging technology means that the batteries can charge on the overhead contact line, so the vehicle can be used more flexibly on lines with partial overhead contact lines.The new double-articulated trolley buses are scheduled to come into operation from summer 2026 on line 10 between Bern train station and Köniz/Schliern. The conversion to double-articulated trolley buses will increase the capacity on line 10 and optimise the timetable with a more regular service.
