In June 2026, HESS joined other independent European bus manufacturers in presenting a common position to the Heads of State and Government of the EU and EFTA countries. The focus was on advocating fair and balanced market conditions to support a strong and innovative European industry.
Europe has made significant progress in the transition to zero-emission public transport. Today, more than 60 per cent of newly registered city buses are already zero-emission vehicles. This achievement is the result of effective policy support, targeted investment, and strong industrial capabilities.
In view of increasing protectionist trends around the world, HESS remains committed to promoting fair and transparent competition, recognising strategic industries, ensuring the involvement of small and medium-sized manufacturers in regulatory processes, and fostering innovation-friendly framework conditions. The objective is to safeguard jobs, strengthen Europe's competitiveness, and sustainably advance the green transformation of public transport.
