Icing on overhead wires is one of the biggest challenges for trolleybus operators in winter. With the FREELINER de-icing system from HESS you can operate a reliable service even on days when it’s freezing. Avoid breakdowns. Keep your network running. Ensure maximum safety.
The complete solution on one vehicle
A fully integrated system – built on a 3.5 tonne service vehicle:
Two precise injection nozzles ensure reliable de-icing from about 5 km/h. A suitable de-icing agent is applied in a targeted manner and quickly and effectively removes ice on the cables. The system is designed for different de-icing agents and can be flexibly adapted to meet the requirements of towns and local authorities.
Specially developed mechanical ice scrapers are available for severe or heavy icing. They reliably remove even large chunks of ice and ensure safe operation during winter conditions.
Galvanically isolated components ensure maximum safety when working on live catenary wires.
A transport and service vehicle suitable for year-round use, featuring a modular system designed to meet varying seasonal requirements. The tarpaulin frame is used in spring and summer, while the de-icer is used in winter; thanks to its clever design the changeover can be accomplished quickly, safely and efficiently in about 30 minutes. The conversion includes the professional disassembly or assembly of the superstructure, mechanical securing on the vehicle, connection of all supply‑ and control lines (lighting, cameras, spray system) as well as a final functional test so that the vehicle is immediately ready for operation.
A camera with integrated LED lighting mounted in the immediate vicinity of the injector nozzles transmits live pictures directly on to the display in the cab and allows visual monitoring of the de-icing process at all times for maximum control, high precision and added safety.
Developed to meet the demands of European winter conditions, the FREELINER stands for reliable and trouble-free operation.
